More than 200 organizing fellows filled up the Falls Church office today to take part in an intense day of training before we send them off to their regions this summer. Fellows learned the ins and outs of voter registration, canvassing, and phone banking—and they had fun doing it.
We chatted with some of the fellows before they headed off and here's what they had to say:
“I learned so much, but, most importantly, I learned that even if you feel that you don’t have the experience, all you need to do this is the drive, energy and commitment to help reelect President Obama.”
– Camilla, Charlottesville
“My mother was diagnosed with a condition that was considered a pre-existing condition, and we had many trials and tribulations of dealing with the insurance company on that. Healthcare reform was a brave and bold step, and I’m proud of President Obama for doing it. That's why I joined the fellows program.”
“For the first time, I was able to tell my story about coming out to my mom. It was a really empowering experience. Afterward, I called my mom to tell her that I was here, supporting President Obama. She was proud of me.”
– Brice, Hampton, VA
We’re excited to have our fellows join us for the summer. Are you fired up and ready to go?
