Organizers and volunteers came together across Washington yesterday to celebrate Independence Day with massive voter registration drives, volunteer recruitment, and other exciting events.
Volunteers in the Northwest region registered huge numbers of voters at events in Lynden, Bellingham, Everett, and Edmonds.
Volunteers in Vancouver gathered on Officer’s Row at historic Fort Vancouver. Thousands of locals turned out to listen to music, check out venders, and celebrate the Fourth at Clark County’s biggest party.
The festive atmosphere at the Fort was underpinned by patriotic acknowledgment of the freedoms we enjoy, as volunteers like Mina registered voters and talked to their neighbors about what’s at stake in this year’s election.
In Eastern Washington, volunteers worked hard at voter registration booths like the one at Riverfront Park.
At Gas Works Park in Seattle, a volunteer named Nancy registered a 35 year-old woman who had never registered to vote. When we asked Nancy how she thought that was possible, Nancy replied, “Maybe no one had ever asked her.”
