Manassas supporters had a lot to celebrate today. Nearly 500 supporters piled into the Main Street space to check out the new campaign space and hear from Virginia business leader Terry McAuliffe and Congressman Gerry Connolly.
Mr. McAuliffe stressed the importance of our state saying that if we win Virginia, we will win the election to make President Obama the only Democrat to carry the Commonwealth of Virginia twice in 48 years.
"President Obama has created jobs, as we now know, for 29 straight months—over 4.5 million new jobs,” McAuliffe said. “Those are the facts that we got to keep talking about when we go door-to-door because there is a clear choice, now that the ticket is complete.”
Jon, from nearby Haymarket, signed up to join his neighborhood team at today’s office opening. According to Jon, democracy is not a spectator sport so that’s why it’s important that he gets involved. “I’m joining the fight for the candidate that’s fighting for us—and that candidate is President Obama,” Jon says. “You can see that he stands with middle-class Americans like myself when President Obama’s tax policy asks those who are more well-off to pay their fair share in taxes; you can see it in passage of the Affordable Care Act which is helps millions of middle-class Americans today. Look to the other side, and what you see is a team that will give away tax cuts to millionaires at the expense of those hurting most.”
Natalia from Woodbridge came to the Manassas office opening to show her support for President Obama because she believes that he understands what it’s like to be a middle-class American. “President Obama wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and I think he definitely understands the struggles our families go through because he’s been there,” Natalia says.
"President Obama understands that families just want a better future, and that’s what he’s doing—moving us forward.”
Thanks to Congressman Gerry Connolly and former DNC Chair Terry McAuliffe for firing up our supporters. We're moving forward. Let's go.
