• "Today, I have more hope than ever."

When I lost my job designing and engineering auto show exhibits in January 2008, I decided it was time to go back to school and finish my degree.

I was out of work, so Pell Grants were essential. They covered a quarter of my tuition, and student loans helped me with the rest. Thanks to President Obama’s “Pay as You Earn” plan, paying back those student loans will be a lot easier because my rate is based on my monthly income.

Even though I had 15 years of experience in my field, getting my bachelor’s degree in Interior Design truly paid off. Two years ago, I started a company with two partners. This August, I decided to strike out on my own. My business provides retail design for restaurants, stores

I feel really good about my new business. If you asked me, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” - the answer would be yes. Four years ago, I would never have thought to start my own business because of the economy. Now that the auto industry is back, and Michigan is doing well as a result - the demand for my services continues to increase day by day.

The difference from four years ago is that today, I have more hope than ever. I'm committing to vote for President Obama on Election Day. You should, too.
