The holidays are over and it's officially 2012.
Now is the time to get down to business and work hard to re-elect President Obama. Whenever I hear the President speak, I always feel that he is speaking from the heart, not just making a typical political speech. In fact, I know it because I feel my emotions welling up. Knowing that my President is a fair, honorable, inclusive gentleman is what gives me the drive and motivation to knock on doors, call strangers, and speak to friends about how important their vote is for President Obama.
I started the new year off right by registering voters at the Celebration of Democracy Fair in Tucson. I even found myself talking with Congressman Raul Grijalva and our great new mayor Jonathan Rothschild at the event. However, the real perk of this voter registration drive wasn’t the notable attendees. It’s when I convince folks who aren't sure voting matters, or are apprehensive about the forms, to register to vote that I feel a sense of pride—I know I'm doing something important.
In the immediate future, I will be focusing on growing our Tucson team. The neighborhood team structure works best when every team member has a voice and a clear role, when we are organized we are greater together. Volunteers with Organizing for America know that they are making a difference—that’s what we are all about. Check out our events page and get involved today!
