Members of the Normandy/Jennings community gathered in the parking lot of Afro World for an afternoon of music and politicking
Last Saturday, the Normandy/Jennings Neighborhood Team demonstrated the power of community coming together around a common purpose: to re-engage its members and get involved with President Obama’s 2012 campaign. On a sunny afternoon in early Fall, speakers, musicians, local politicians, and active community members provided motivational messages stressing the importance of supporting the President and the urgency of making sure their neighbors, family, and friends are registered to vote. Volunteers greeted attendees with “I’m In” cards and information on how they can become involved with the campaign in their neighborhood. This was a perfect example of ordinary people in their community doing extraordinary things to ensure success in 2012.
