Neighborhood teams all across the country are gearing up for one of the biggest weekends of action yet—and Team Lansing is buzzing with excitement for registering new voters.
From Michigan Pride, one of the state’s largest LGBT festivals—to local businesses and community centers—the team will be registering voters throughout Lansing.
As Field Organizer LaShawn explains:
“The warmer the weather gets, the more unique the venues can be when it comes to registering new voters. With all of the festivals and parades this summer and fall, there are so many ways for people to support the President and get involved.”
David, Team Lansing’s voter registration captain, adds:
“At the end of the day, it’s always about going where the people are. You can’t just set up shop in one place, you need to follow the crowds. There’s always someone who hasn’t registered to vote yet.”
Deputy Team Leader Edwina explains that the team will be using this weekend as an opportunity to continue to build their relationship with barbershops, places of worship, and communities throughout the city.
“Our strategy should look as diverse as the city of Lansing. People are more likely to be empowered to exercise their right to vote when they are encouraged by someone they know and trust.”
