I'm Alex K and I'm going into my third year of college at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH studying political science. Ever since I can remember, I've always been interested in the political process. Now that I am finally able to vote, I have never been more politically active. I heard President Obama speak at a rally in downtown Detroit, and since then I have been a huge supporter. I want to do anything I can to help him win in 2012 and want to allow him to continue the reform he is bringing. Being a part of the 2011 Summer Organizer Program has allowed me to get more involved and reach out to my community. I am able to meet other supporters in Livonia, Northville, and Redford who are looking for a way to get involved. Holding neighborhood team meetings, phone banks, and registering voters are ways that I've been working to make a difference!
I love my Michigan identity and hope to continue working in my home state. I think President Obama has done a great job since he was elected as he helped the economy avoid a deeper recession and has been a positive influence to many people young and old. I think many Americans need to realize that change will not come overnight and is a multiyear process. I think the auto industry in Detroit is a big sign that the President is more than capable of turning the country around, as the bailout has flowed money and jobs together efficiently. I'm excited I was chosen to be a part of this great campaign and can't wait to see what we accomplish next!
