Every year, Americans go wild for the deals and savings that Black Friday offers. But Upper West Side and Harlem volunteers weren’t at the stores to hunt for deals last Friday—instead they worked through the morning with one goal: to get shoppers fired up for the 2012 election. They were able to overcome the long lines and harried shoppers, registering over 15 new voters and recruiting around 30 new supporters in the process.
Fall fellow Lynn felt that the enthusiasm of the volunteers contributed to the event’s success: “I have to thank the tireless volunteers who withstood the pressure of holiday shopping and manned tables instead," she said.
