Minutes before President Obama and the First Lady took the stage in Davenport, Iowa, yesterday, Ed, an attorney, explained what brought him out.
“I came to see the President of the United States and support him for another term. He passed the Affordable Care Act, and I think that’s going to be very beneficial. The cost of insurance has skyrocketed to the point where the average person can’t afford it. I know that myself, I was paying $1,400 a month for a family of four for health insurance. I just don’t think that the average person can possibly afford to pay those types of insurance premiums. I think we need to make health care more affordable and more available for everyone.
“The other reason I’m here is that I think President Obama is for the little guy. And I’ve always been a supporter of the little guy. I like the fact that he takes on tough subjects and is doing his best to make sure that our society has at least a minimum standard of living for event he poorest in our country. I admire him for taking on those tough tasks. He hasn’t given up—he just keeps fighting the battle, and I’m here to support him.”
