The Northeast Heights Neighborhood Team for Obama recently kicked off the new year with a team meeting. At first we discussed the appointment of Richard Cordray as the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. With Cordray’s leadership, the CFPB will be better equipped to protect consumers.
Next, Kenny Sandoval, a Volunteer Field Organizer, filled the group in on the planned Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Action events. This year, on Martin Luther King Day, New Mexico is focusing on voter registration —a fitting way to honor Dr. King who fought so valiantly for voters’ rights.
The final item on our agenda was making phone calls to other Democrats in the Northeast Heights to help build their group. Kenny came to the meeting with call lists and cell phones, and everyone got to work. This was real grassroots growth in motion – neighbors reaching out to neighbors to help President Obama get re-elected.
