Born in the Great Depression, Willis Harvey grew up in Mississippi before serving in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Willis comes from a military family, with brothers who served in the Navy, the Army, and the Marines.
Willis has seen his fair share of presidents in his lifetime—and for him, none have showed the commitment to veterans that he sees from President Obama:
President Obama is doing a fabulous job working with our veterans. Those who come home after serving our country need someone to support them—and President Obama is that guy. His support is just terrific—and extends beyond those who have served. The work that Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden are doing for military families really shows how much they all care.
Willis understands that President Obama is fighting for our veterans. From access to the health care they need to the job opportunities they deserve when they return home, the President has expanded and improved benefits for veterans and their families.
In Charlotte last Thursday, President Obama showed the country his support for our men and women in uniform:
Tonight, we pay tribute to the Americans who still serve in harm's way. We are forever in debt to a generation whose sacrifice has made this country safer and more respected. We will never forget you. And so long as I'm Commander-in-Chief, we will sustain the strongest military the world has ever known. When you take off the uniform, we will serve you as well as you've served us -- because no one who fights for this country should have to fight for a job, or a roof over their heads, or the care that they need when they come home.
