On her first solo campaign trip this year, Dr. Jill Biden spent a gorgeous fall day in Minnesota. Along with being Second Lady of the United States, Dr. Biden teachers at a community college in Virginia. So she was right at home at her first stop, North Hennepin Community College:
This is actually a pretty familiar setting for me. I’m a full-time teacher at a community college working with students a lot like all of you. And I often say that my students are my heroes. You’re young people trying to improve your skills or lay the groundwork to move on to a four-year college.
After North Hennepin, Dr. Biden headed to a Women for Obama event in Hopkins:
I’m here today not just as the wife of the Vice President, but as a mom… as a full-time teacher… and, of course, as a woman – a woman who votes. I’ve seen firsthand how Barack and Joe stand up for the rights and freedoms of women every day.
At her last stop, Dr. Biden met over 500 fired up students at Macalester College to talk about the stakes for students this election:
I want all of you to know that the President, the Vice President, and this entire Administration believe if we’re going to create an economy built to last, we’ve got to start by making sure that young people like you can get the skills and the knowledge you need to fulfill your potential.
At every stop, Jill Biden had a request, "I want to ask all of you to do everything you can between now and November to make sure that Barack and Joe have another four years."
