Check out this e-mail that Field Director Erin McCann sent to Michigan volunteers this week on our Neighborhood Team Convention - and why you should join us in Warren this Saturday.
Supporters like you from across the state are getting together on Saturday for a neighborhood team convention in Warren -- and I hope you can be there.
What happens at this meeting depends on the folks who show up -- because you know your communities best, and you have the best ideas to get your neighbors excited and engaged in this election.
That's the whole idea. Volunteers are gathering to plan out how to build our organization and make sure we're going strong into November -- from discussing when and how to reach out, to sharing favorite organizing tips and thinking through the crucial next steps for your community. Michigan is going to make a big difference on Election Day -- and right now, we have the opportunity to build the organization that could turn the tide.
I guarantee there will be friendly faces -- Michiganders who want to see the same kind of progress you do, and who will be excited to get to know you.
Sound good? Here are the details:
Where: UAW Region 1 Headquarters
27800 George Merrelli Drive
Warren, MI 48092
When: Saturday, May 19th
10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Teams of local volunteers -- from Grand Rapids to Detroit to Traverse City -- are the core of our organization. Across the state, these teams shoulder the conversations and planning that will help re-elect President Obama and other Democrats.
It's critically important work, and it's a whole lot of fun. Some of my favorite experiences have come from meetings just like the one on Saturday, and from connecting with the long-time and first-time volunteers I've met there.
If you've never met the other volunteers and organizers here in Michigan, I'm sure they want to meet you. If you're already involved, then you know how important it is that you show up.
So join your team in Warren on Saturday and help plan the next steps in Michigan:
Hope you can make it,
