On Tuesday, people across the nation will come together to watch President Obama’s third State of the Union speech. If you haven’t signed up to attend a watch party, make sure to do so soon
In Saint Charles, Ben C. has signed up to host a watch party at Rookies All American Pub and Grill because he wanted to show others how easy it was to get involved in their community.
“Before I started to volunteer, I had no clue how I could possibly help the President’s campaign. Political campaigns seemed like something far off and hard to get involved with. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Just by checking BarackObama.com for volunteer opportunities I found myself in my hometown working with others to help re-elect the President. I realized that if I had no clue about the opportunities to organize in my hometown, then there must be many others just like me out there. By throwing this party I hope to show people that no matter how big politics may seem anyone can make a big difference by getting involved in their own community.”
Arnetta S., a volunteer in Hazel Crest, signed up to host a State of the Union watch party because she wanted people in her community to come together to watch President Obama speak about the outstanding things he has accomplished.
“We as a community need to know what great plans President Obama has for 2012. I hope to get people in my community energized about this campaign and ready to volunteer to become a part of this awesome re-election campaign.”
