President Obama was back in the Hawkeye State, and in addition to his grassroots event in Davenport with thousands of supporters - he stopped to grab a bite to eat with a few of our local all-star volunteers; including our Neighborhood Team Leader in Leclaire, Deb Willaredt.
"It was a thrill of a lifetime, there's no other way to say it, it was just thrilling. Exciting, because he is the President of the United States, even more exciting because he is this President. "
Deb spoke about her experience as a Neighborhood Team Leader:
"My favorite part about volunteering is the closeness I feel when it's a truly grassroots campaign. I know everybody says this is a grassroots campaign, but the Obama campaign has been team-spirited from the very beginning."
Like so many of our other volunteers, she knows that there is so much at stake this election cycle:
"This is election is about fighting for what I think is right. Equality rights are worth fighting to for me, this is about my family, and their happiness, and I think anybody who has those issues directly impacting their family would do the same thing i'm doing. This is about my kids, and I will fight for them to have healthcare and I will fight for them to have marriage equality."
And the only way to describe her passion is fired up and ready to do whatever it takes to make sure we have 4 more years with President Obama:
"And we will call, we will canvass, and we will have every vote that we can get out. So the effort is not done until every vote that we think we can get has been counted by the county auditor. "
Deb couldn't be more right. Everything we have accomplished together the last four years is going to come down to the last four days of the campaign.
