Like many others hosting State of the Union Watch Parties, Kathy C. believes that small group meetings are a good place to discuss President Obama’s accomplishments. At their State of the Union Watch Party, not only will attendees hear the President lay out what he wants to do in 2012, but Kathy and her husband Joe will also have a chance to talk with their neighbors about all he has done in the last three years.
“We believe in and fully support President Obama. We continue to encounter Democrats who helped get the President elected in 2008, but aren't yet supportive in 2012. In the words of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, we need to focus on all the positive things the President has accomplished for the American people and remember where he started when he took office. We need to focus on the number of jobs he has saved and the new jobs he's enabled businesses to create, as a result of the stimulus and policies that promote both hiring people who have been out of work for a long time and veterans.”
“There are many examples of how our health care has changed for the better, yet the first item on many of our opponents’ agendas is to repeal it. We need to be mindful of the magnitude and scope of the list of accomplishments. We want to make sure attendees of our watch party have several examples to cite when they encounter people who say ‘President Obama hasn't really done anything.’”
On Tuesday, January 24th, President Obama will give his State of the Union address—and supporters across New Mexico are organizing parties in their neighborhoods to tune in. If you've been waiting for the right moment to get involved in the campaign, this is it. Sign up today to attend a State of the Union Watch Party in your community.
