Until you've lived on a fixed income, like my husband and I do, you just don't get how tough it is. The plans Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are proposing for a voucher program would make it even harder.

A lot of seniors would be very confused by having to shop around for insurance coverage. You have to know what an insurance plan is covering — it's not just about the monthly premium. Private insurers will select the healthier and younger seniors – leaving Medicare to take on the more expensive patients. The Romney-Ryan plan would make access to care more difficult for seniors when they need it the most.
