On May 3rd, Georgia had the special opportunity to see 2008 Campaign Manager David Plouffe at Opera Nightclub in Midtown Atlanta. The event was a fundraiser hosted by Generation 44, the young professionals fundraising group. Plouffe came to Atlanta and talked about the successes of the President so far in the first term and made the case for getting involved in the election this time around.
Plouffe stated that the election is going to be very close and could come down to a handful of voters per precinct. He encouraged the crowd to be involved in their communities and to help out however they could because the President has a day job.
Also speaking at the event was Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. He fired up the crowd before David Plouffe came out to speak. Mayor Reed commented on the state of the race nationally and energized the crowd by talking about the accomplishments of the President and what they mean for Atlanta, Georgia, and the rest of the country.
Just before the event, Plouffe met with a group of 2012 campaign volunteers and encouraged them to be the leaders of the state. The job that the these volunteers do over the next few months is going to be crucial to bringing a second term for President Obama.
