Jess, from Muskego, Wisconsin, has been a “regular” at the local Green Bay office since the beginning of 2012. As a volunteer, she kicked-off canvasses and helped run a lot of the the different events at the office. Last week, Jess graduated from college and on Monday we were excited to welcome her as a field organizer for President Obama’s organizing team here in Wisconsin.
Jess' favorite part of the campaign is interacting with volunteers and getting to know more about them. Jess says she admittedly loves canvassing "a bit too much" and is always eager to hit the streets to talk to others about what’s at stake in 2012. She likes being able to engage people through friendly and informative conversation because we all learn a lot from each other.
In 2008, Jess was too young to vote, but she "always felt Obama had my back." Jess studied political science and women's studies at University of Wisconsin – Green Bay and feels that signing the Lily Ledbetter Act was the most impressive accomplishment President Obama could take towards equal rights.
"He stands up for me, so now I'll fight for him."
We’re excited to welcome Jess and a number of new field organizers to our team here in Wisconsin. Stop by your local field office to meet them and find out how you can get involved.
