
With the average in-state tuition at a four-year public college now exceeding $17,000 a year, students are worried about how they’ll pay for the increasing cost of college. President Obama has “made it a priority to make college more affordable.” To do so, he has doubled the funding for Pell Grants and created the American Opportunity Tax Credit worth up to $10,000 for a four-year college.
Mitt Romney, however, supports the GOP plan that cuts Pell Grants and wants to let the AOTC expire. His “best advice” for students is to “shop around.”
