Lilly Ledbetter took her fight to end unfair pay for women to the Supreme Court in 2007, only to be told that her pay discrimination claim was filed too late. Mrs. Ledbetter inspired the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, which makes sure women like her can effectively challenge unequal pay whenever they receive a discriminatory paycheck.
The Lilly Ledbetter Act was the first bill President Obama signed into law. When asked whether Mitt Romney supports the Act, Romney’s campaign replied, “We’ll get back to you on that.”
