Accomplishment No. 4: The Making Work Pay Tax Credit
If you've never heard of this tax credit, you're not alone. As the NY Times put it, "What if a president cut Americans’ income taxes by $116 billion and nobody noticed?" But saving up to $800 a year on a married couple's taxes is real money back in the hands of everyday Americans.
We definitely noticed which is why The Making Work Pay Tax Credit is our accomplishment of the day.
In contrast Mitt Romney has proposed cutting millionaires taxes by an average of $250,000 a year, while letting tax credits expire—including the college tax credit (worth up to $10,000 over four-years of college) which provides needed relief for more than 9 million hardworking middle class families.
President Obama is calling on Congress right now to extend middle class tax cuts and ask the richest among us to pay their fair share, say you stand with him by signing up to volunteer in your community here.
