Tomorrow is a big day for us here in the Granite State. The Obamas and the Bidens chose to make their first post-Convention stop right here in New Hampshire–and right before our big Weekend of Action! Everything about this event is exciting and it really emphasizes the critical role New Hampshire will play in this election.
We started distributing tickets earlier this week, folks from across the state came out to get them, including Barbara, a Portsmouth resident of 24 years. She lined up early, even waiting out in a rain shower.
Here’s how she explained her determination:
"I’ve seen the President once before, back when he was first elected, but having the chance see him and the First Lady, the Vice President Biden, and Jill Biden is just momentous. What’s a little rain when we’re talking about an occasion like this?”
Barbara also told us what she’s looking forward to most about the event on Friday:
“I’ve been following the Convention pretty closely. If the buzz and momentum there is anything to go by, then Friday’s visit is going to be pretty incredible. The thing that’s resonated with me most was the idea that we’re all in this together, that community matters.
“Portsmouth is tightknit community and what the First Lady said in her convention speech about working together to help eachother succeed–that’s exactly how we do it here.
It seems to us that that’s why we have such amazing volunteers, not just in Portsmouth, but all across New Hampshire. That struck a chord with Barbara:
Volunteering on this campaign has made me realize that we are all in this together, we have to look out for those who can’t always look out for themselves.
“The Convention has been a great starting point to get everyone charged up, and it’s amazing that the Obamas and Bidens will be here on Friday. I think Portsmouth is going to be ready to ramp this campaign up a notch. I can’t wait to see all this energy translated into action.”
Turn your energy into action this coming Saturday, at our September Day of Action.
