Community Organizer Deborah S. has tons of campaign experience.

“My first campaign was the 1972 Presidential election when I licked envelopes for Democratic nominee George McGovern,” she said. “I volunteered for Ron Kirk's senatorial campaign in 2002. In 2004, I was a staffer on Congressman Martin Frost's campaign in which I served as his community outreach coordinator. “ Ever since she heard President Obama speak at the Democratic National Convention in 2004, Deborah’s friends have called her “the original Obama girl.”

“I campaigned for him both during the primaries and general election in 2008,” she said. “I love President 0bama more than anything, even more than diet coke and Elvis Andrus who is my very favorite baseball player.”

Now, Deborah is working with the 2012 campaign staff and summer organizers in North Texas, calling voters and volunteers and attending local events. During the year, Deborah is a middle school English teacher and has a sixteen-year-old son who she is hoping will volunteer on the campaign in the fall.

“I love getting others involved in the campaign process,” she said. “I believe everyone should volunteer on a campaign at least once!”
