• Obama 2012 inspires Flint College Students to Get Involved in Democracy

Flint — Obama 2012 was recently invited to participate in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s “Road to 2012” as part of their Delta Week in Flint. We were also joined by a member from Rep. Dale Kildee’s staff.

The two dozen young women (and a few gentlemen) were interested to learn about politics, government service and why 2012 is so important to their generation of voters. We also explained the duties and responsibilities of our jobs. They were surprised at how different our roles in politics and government were.

The students had lots of questions ranging from how elections and government works all the way to complex policy ideas. It was great to see so many young people interested and inspired to learn more about our democracy. The group was excited to hear about the Obama 2012 roadmap for mid-Michigan and how they could get involved. Several of the young people expressed interest in volunteering and joining a local neighborhood team.
