• He Nailed It!

Attendees overflowed the Mini Moolah Theatre in midtown St. Louis on Tuesday night to watch the State of the Union address at an OFA sponsored watch party. Ask them what they thought of the President’s address and the response was: “He nailed it!”

Throughout the speech, spontaneous applause rivaled the standing ovations on the House floor, making it obvious that folks liked what they heard as the President laid out his blueprint for an America built to last.

Prior to the speech, as attendees settled into the overstuffed chairs in the theatre, they talked about what they hoped to hear.

Larry came to hear what he hoped would be a strong message from the President that would bring the conversation back to the real issues facing America.

“I’m here because I support the president and I think it will be really fun to watch the speech with other people who feel the way I do. I hope the President comes out swinging. It’s time for him to grab center stage and move the debate off the republican dysfunctional agenda.”

Nadia came to hear the President address a tough job market.

“I’ve come tonight because I thought that it would be wonderful to watch the State of the Union with a live group of people. I’m also here because I support the President and his issues. I’m hoping to hear the President talk about a plan to lower minority unemployment.”

Those in attendance certainly got what they came for. Throughout the speech, the President gave a strong, commanding outline that offered real solutions to the problems facing America today.

"No challenge is more urgent. No debate is more important. We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by. Or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules."

Susan was pleased he came out swinging.

"It was a powerful speech that focused on the economy and accountability. I love it that he called out Congress for their obstructionism and said that if necessary, he will by-pass them. He’s not afraid of controversy during an election year. That’s the Obama I love."
