• Gotta Commit

    Mondale

To the thousands of students returning to campuses all over Minnesota, welcome back!

As the school year starts, you've gotta lot to do: gotta catch up with friends, gotta do homework, gotta go to work, gotta pay tuition, gotta join a club. And here's one more: gotta sleep less because I have more to ask you to do.

You've gotta commit to vote and get involved.

Last week on 11 Minnesota campuses, students gathered together to watch the President's speech at the Democratic National Convention. Walter Mondale visited our event at the University of Minnesota which was so packed that students were sitting on the stairs! That was just the start of a historic effort, to organize our campuses and communities to get out and vote.

If you thought the campaign in 2008 was big, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Let's be clear, no one has a bigger stake in the outcome of this election than you. The next President won't just have a big impact on the shape of our country over the next four years, but the future we'll inherit from our parents' generation.

This election is a choice, forward or back.

Forward towards an economy that grows jobs from the middle-class out or back to the same failed trickle-down policies that got us into this mess. Forward towards more support for Pell Grants and student aid, or backwards with a President who's suggestion to students struggling to pay tuition is "borrow money from your parents." Forward so everyone gets equal pay for equal work or back to the debates our moms had in the 1950s about women's health?

    You get the point, right?

So let us know you're committed to supporting President Obama. Our work, to define our own future, starts now.
