Recently, a young supporter came into our Louisville office to volunteer. But he wasn’t the average Obama supporter, a democrat who had memorized his every accomplishment. He was a lifelong Republican.
Andrew A. is a Kentucky native and recent graduate of the University of Kentucky, and a strong Republican for Obama.
“In all honesty, I didn’t vote for President Obama in the last election. I’ve always voted republican, but this year will be different.”
Thanks to hard work bussing tables and mopping floors, Andrew was set to graduate college without owing any debt. But right before graduation, he was injured and now owes thousands in medical bills
“I now consider myself on his side of the healthcare debate.”
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, young Kentuckians, like Andrew, can stay on the parent’s healthcare insurance for longer, and all folks around the Bluegrass will never again have to worry about being denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions.
The Affordable Care Act didn’t just change Andrew’s mind when it came to voting for President Obama—it inspired him to volunteer to help re-elect him.
