During the past year organizers in the Fall Fellowship and Summer Organizer programs have helped put a strong foundation in place for the campaign in Florida.
Recently we caught up with Yasmin to learn about her experience as a Fall Fellow in Broward County.
We have a bond in the Broward office. Besides all the work we do, it's fun. We come in and it's not like a regular 9-to-5 shuffling papers because we do so much more. You're out at events and active. You're not treated like an intern, you're treated like part of the campaign.
There's one highlight from the Fall Fellowship experience that Yasmin says she will never forget.
Getting to meet Michelle Obama was amazing. When she heard I was a Fall Fellow she hugged me, and thanked me, and then we took pictures. She told me to have as much fun as I can on the campaign. It was phenomenal.
Yasmin says bringing new people into the campaign is a rewarding part of the Fellowship experience.
One-on-one meetings with new volunteers are fun because everyone has a different story about how they got to where they are, and why they want to reelect President Obama.
I like voter registration and we do a lot of that. With the changes to the rules we're careful to make sure we dot our i's and cross our t's to get people involved that way, and lots of people have been registering.
This week the campaign began accepting spring applications for the Obama Organizing Fellowship Program. You can click here to apply and learn more.
