• Faces of the Campaign: Peggy Moore

    Peggy at awards lunch

Peggy Moore, Obama for America- California Political Director, was honored recently by the Multi-Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame as the founder of Sistahs Steppin’ In Pride. Celebrating the work of women in the community, the event recognized 11 women leaders of different ethnicities and backgrounds in the Bay Area. Sistahs Steppin’ has enhanced the visibility of the LGBT community in Oakland by providing a space for cultural and artistic expression in the heart of the community every year since 1999.”

Peggy’s career spans over twenty-five years of community service and organizing. A walk with Peggy down Telegraph Avenue in Oakland reveals why she is so good at her job. Every other person is greeted like a long lost friend, and before you know it, they’re your friends too. In addition to her commitment to Oakland’s LGBT community, Peggy is also a passionate advocate for the City of Oakland, and once ran for the City Council.

After she volunteered for the Obama Campaign in 2008, Peggy became the OFA Field Director for Northern California. Then, after the election, she was hired as the Political Director for OFA California; a position that brings all of her prior experiences to bear as it’s based on building relationships between elected officials and the campaign. And, as Peggy would tell you, that’s what this movement is all about—bringing people together to work for positive change.

Work for change with Peggy in your community today… you'll make lifelong friends while doing it!
