Romney Economics: Massachusetts stories
By on
Folks who lived in Massachusetts when Mitt Romney was governor have been writing in to share their memories of his time in office:
“The people of the Commonwealth remember the disastrous economic state that Mitt Romney left Massachusetts in. [Governor] Deval Patrick was burdened in the same way Barack Obama was burdened by [former President] George Bush’s economic legacy. It took our present governor two years to dig us out from Mitt Romney's mismanagement during his term as governor. He is a slick salesman—that's how he made his money—but he has a really poor track record as a government administrator.”
—Nancy, Northampton
“I remember when … fees went up under Romney—the town my wife works for had to pass those types of fees directly onto taxpayers. When confronted with those fee increases, I remember Governor Romney vehemently denying that those were tax increases.”
—John, Duxbury
“[Governor Romney] didn't create jobs, and I don't know what use he made of his ‘business experience.’ I do seem to recall, however, that he was out of state a lot, already running for President.”
—John, Burlington
