In June, President Obama’s supporters in Rhode Island got together to march in the Ocean State’s Pride Parade in Providence, celebrating with a daytime festival followed by a nighttime parade.

Dominic, who registered voters during the festival, said the day was filled with enthusiasm:

“Tons of people were registering voters, handing out forms, and chanting 'Four more years!' Being there was an incredible feeling.”

Emily, a summer fellow who helped recruit for the parade, shared her experience volunteering at Pride:

“I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how supporting and passionate everyone was. People feel that President Obama supports them. This is our opportunity to get involved. We’re all working towards something bigger than ourselves—and that’s truly rewarding.”

Volunteers like Dominic and Emily are organizing to help President Obama keep making progress for the LGBT community. Join them by signing up for Obama Pride today.

A version of this was posted July 2 on the Rhode Island state blog.
