President Bill Clinton ended day two of the Democratic National Convention by breaking down the high stakes of this election. Here are some of the lines that brought the house down:

    On values:

"We believe 'we’re all in this together' is a better philosophy than 'you’re on your own.'"

"[Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan] want to take us back to the same policies that got us into this mess in the first place."

    On rebuilding the economy:

"No President—not me or any of my predecessors—could have repaired all the damage in just four years. But conditions are improving.”

"He laid the foundation for a more modern, more well-balanced economy that will create millions of jobs."

"The Recovery Act saved and created millions of jobs and cut taxes for 95% of the American people."

    On the auto industry:

"The auto industry restructuring worked. It saved more than a million jobs."

    On student loan reform:

"The President's student loan reform is more important than ever. It lowers the cost of federal student loans … No one will ever have to drop out of college again for fear they can't repay their debt."

    On health care:

"President Obama and the Democrats didn’t weaken Medicare, they strengthened it."

    On reducing the debt:

"President Obama has offered a reasonable plan of $4 trillion in debt reduction over a decade."

“I think the President’s plan is better than the Romney plan, because the Romney plan fails the first test of fiscal responsibility: The numbers don’t add up.”

On how President Obama is moving the country forward:

"I know we’re coming back. For more than 200 years, through every crisis, we’ve always come out stronger than we went in … We have to re-elect President Obama.”
