Obama 2012 offices have been swinging open their doors all across the state of Colorado this summer. But last weekend, South Denver entertained a couple of very special guests at their party.

    Lilly Ledbetter

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, and Lilly Ledbetter, equal pay pioneer and namesake of the first law President Obama signed after taking office, joined a huge crowd for the grand opening celebration. They spoke to volunteers and supporters about the issues in this election, and why it’s so important.

Debbie and Lilly shared their personal stories about why they support the President’s work on affordable health care, women’s rights, the middle class, and education. Then Debbie asked volunteers to join her in giving President Obama the most valuable resource we have: our time.

“I can tell you that I will be spending my time over the next 80 days—that’s all we’ve got left, 80 days—to make sure that when I wake up on the morning of November 7th, I did everything I could to help put Barack Obama back in the White House, and continue the progress we’ve made. And we need you to do the same. It is the people power that fuels this campaign, and that is going to carry Barack Obama back to the White House. And I know that that’s going to happen on the shoulders of Colorado voters.”

Coloradans are ready to take the challenge. Volunteers at the South Denver office are already in full swing, registering voters, making phone calls, and recruiting new supporters to join this grassroots movement. Dolores, a neighborhood team member at the opening, is a good example of the energy they bring.

"I’m organizing in Five Points with my team, and I’m so happy with what I’m doing. Even though I’m retired, I’m still involved, and I just love coming into the office."

The count is down to 76 days, but this campaign is still growing—offices continue to open up in Colorado and around the country. Find an office near you and get involved today.
