We’re excited to announce that our office in Newport News is officially open!

A large group gathered at the new office to hear from Congressman Bobby Scott, our State Director Lise Clavel, Hampton Mayor Molly Ward, and Newport News Mayor McKinley Price. They also got a chance to meet our Regional Field Director Josh Norris, who will be working out of the Newport News office.

All of the speakers stressed the importance of getting started early to keep Virginia blue in 2012 and applauded all the great work Obama staff and volunteers have been doing in Virginia, including holding more than 2,000 grassroots trainings, planning sessions, house parties, voter registration drives and phone banks since April 4th.

The crowd was enthusiastic about getting to work and excited about the benefits of having an office in the area. One office opening attendee said he’d be needing new shoes because of all the canvassing he plans to do!
