Michael: Why I give
By on
"I think President Obama has done an amazing job. He’s had to fight tooth and nail, but it’s worked. I live here in Virginia, but I’m actually from Ohio, and I know people who work in the factories. So when people were saying 'let the auto industry go bankrupt,' I was like 'well, this is my family.'
"Right now, everything is so divided, and it’s going to go one of two ways. For me and my family, I understand the importance of getting Barack Obama elected again. Being an African American especially, with the things we’ve been through in our own lifetime, we understand that without him being elected we’re going to be forgotten about; and not just African Americans, but anyone who’s a minority, the have-nots. If we gave up on Obama now, that would be a devastating blow—not just for us, but for our kids, for the future.
"We need him—we need that possibility, and it’s going to cost money. The other side is going to outspend us, there’s no question. But we can still show our support. If you were ever going to give, now is the time."
