Des Moines, Iowa grassroots event with Barack Obama, May 25th, 2012

President Obama is getting set to speak about middle class tax cuts in Cedar Rapids. Meanwhile, Iowa’s grassroots volunteers are hard at work in blue T-shirts featuring their motto: “If you build it, they will come.”

It started as a lighthearted reference to “Field of Dreams”—the classic baseball movie set in the cornfields of Iowa. But it’s become much more. Click play to hear Iowa staff members talk about the slogan and what it really means.
