On Friday, September 23rd, 40 eager volunteers attended the Obama For America Digital Media training at OFA Headquarters in Honolulu. We explored ways of using social media to help reelect Barack Obama.

I decided some months ago that I want to volunteer on the 2012 campaign, and this was my first function. It was fun! I was impressed to see such a diverse group of volunteers - people from all walks of life, coming together for a cause, and a President they believe in.

The leaders did a great job of facilitating the group. They separated the digital “newbies” from the “intermediates,” and patiently explained the ins and outs of using Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc to spread the word of how Obama is currently working for us. You don’t have a Facebook page? No problem! They will show you how to create one. I think everyone left the meeting with the digital know-how needed to promote Obama over the next year.
