This week’s Friday Facts takes a look at the progress we’ve made to become more energy independent.

Our dependence on foreign oil is the lowest it’s been in 16 years. President Obama has strengthened our economy by making unprecedented investments in the clean energy sector and proposing to nearly double fuel efficiency standards. Under President Obama, we’ve also seen the highest levels of domestic oil production since 2003.

Some more facts for your Friday:

    • 1.1 million: Fewer barrels of foreign oil we imported on a daily basis in 2010 versus 2008

    • 70.5: Percent increase in overall electricity generation from wind and solar sources between 2008 and 2010

    • 224,500: Jobs supported through the end of 2010 thanks to President Obama’s investments in clean energy sectors since taking office
