Maytee is the daughter of Cuban and Spanish immigrants, and currently volunteering with Obama for America-Florida. Though her parents only completed 5th grade, she and her two sisters have pushed themselves to reach for higher education. She works full time and studies part time, but her commitment as a volunteer has only grown since 2008.

Maytee believes President Obama is making America a place where everyone has the same opportunity to exceed, regardless of where they come from. "He understands the struggles that we go through, because he went through them as well," Maytee says. Her most memorable experience registering voters is when people come to her wanting to register and volunteer because they believe President Obama is the man for the job.
