Cristina Saralegui announces her support for President Obama in a letter to followers of the campaign:

I came to this country when I was 12 years old, because my parents were looking for new and better opportunities for me. With their support--and a lot of hard work--I was able to follow my dreams.

It’s that defense of liberty, of that capacity to work for and follow one’s dreams, that leads me to support President Obama. In him, I see a man willing and ready to work so that everyone has the same opportunities I had.

President Obama is working hard so that more Americans can have access to quality health care and a great education. He’s fighting to defend and better Social Security and Medicare -- because millions of Latinos seniors rely on them. He’s had our back, and it’s time we have his back.

Check out my video, share it with your friends, and make sure they get signed up for BarackObama.com/Español so that they can get involved in your community and make sure that they are registered to vote.

The Latino vote will help decide this election. And it’s important that we exercise our right to vote because this election will have consequences for us, our kids, and even our grandkids and great-grandkids.

So get the conversation started – with your friends, your next door neighbor, the guy who runs your local bakery. Tell them just how important this election is for our community, make sure that they’re ready to vote, and push them to get the latest from the campaign by signing up on BarackObama.com/Español.

Together, we can make sure that all Latinos – both today and in the future – enjoy the same opportunities that we’ve enjoyed in this great nation. Together, we’re moving forward.

    Estamos unidos.
