Southeast Portland Team members Tom Johnson and Brad Melland marched with pride as part of OFA-Oregon’s team on Sunday, June 17 in the Portland Pride Parade.

Tom and Brad have been partners for 22 years and hope to marry in the city where they met, Minneapolis, when marriage equality becomes the law in Minnesota. The couple helped register more than 200 voters and recruited more than 60 volunteers at Portland Pride.

“As a gay man, Barack Obama is my candidate,” Tom explained. “He inspires me and he is willing to fight for fairness and equality. He supports my family.”

“It was exhilarating; everyone was so happy,” he added. “A really great weekend to recruit new volunteers.”

If you want to help register voters or recruit new volunteers, join us at an event in your area.
