Today marks the 100th day before the election. Why does this matter? Because what we do in the next 100 days can determine our future. In the next four years, we will be dealing with student debt and loans, entering the job market, and maybe even starting new families.

For young people, this election will have a profound impact on our futures, and the future of our country. Mitt Romney will roll back the clock on the progress we’ve made. His plan for the economy is troubling and familiar: more tax cuts for millionaires and letting Wall Street write its own rules – the same formula that crashed our economy and punished the middle class. He would also let government dictate who we can marry and limit a woman’s access to birth control.

President Obama knows America prospers when we are all in it together and when the same rules apply to everyone, from Main Street to Wall Street, no matter where we were born, and regardless of our gender or sexual orientation. The choice comes down to whether we want to move backwards or forward.

Making that choice is the first step. But we have to do more. All across the country this weekend, young Americans got started by participating in a weekend of action for First Lady Michelle Obama’s new effort It Takes One, which reminds us that taking action and getting even one more person involved can make a difference.

Every little bit helps. We’ve only got 100 days to register voters, to inform our friends and neighbors, and to take hold of our future. So make the next 100 days count and volunteer for Young Americans for Obama today.
