"I donated to this campaign because I wanted to say thank you for the President’s second debate," explains Gwendolyn, a special education professor from Ohio.

"He did a good job of putting out the risk to women if they decided to vote for Mitt Romney. If we want women to be independent and financially secure, then they need to be able to have access to health care.

"I thank President Obama for getting us out of Iraq and for the sanity that he has brought to the country in terms of how we deal with conflict. I would shudder if we put Mitt Romney in office—and I’m not just repeating campaign lines. I said this a couple of years ago. It’s so important that President Obama stays in office.

Rebecca from North Carolina is doing what she can for the campaign.

“I don’t have the ability to give a lot of money, so I’ve been trying to make small donations,” she says. “This is very important to me, so I donate when I can and I volunteer at the local campaign headquarters.”

As a longtime nurse, Rebecca has seen the results of Obamacare firsthand and she knows that there’s no turning back. “I work in health care and I see it all the time. Before, people would come in without insurance and we wouldn’t turn anybody away. But now, with the President’s health care reform, those same people are showing up—but now a lot of them have insurance.”

Wanda is devoted to seeing President Obama get a second term. “He deserves four more years,” she says. “He cares about the everyday person. He kept the economy from tanking and he needs four more years to complete the job. The September jobs report is a positive sign and shows we’re on the right track.”

What inspired Wanda to begin donating to the campaign was a story she heard from a lady in her church congregation. “She told me she’s been sending $10 a month. It made me think about the impact that many people giving small amounts can have on a campaign, so I decided to give monthly donations.”

“I’m a Republican, but I support President Obama,” explains Margaret, a retired customer services representative from Pennsylvania.

“I can’t in good conscience vote for Mitt Romney. If he wins, he’ll send us back to failed Republican policies of years past. President Obama, on the other hand, is finally getting us out of the mess that resulted from huge tax cuts for the rich and massive deregulation, and I believe that more change is coming. He wants to keep middle class taxes low, he fought for health care, and he's the President who finally brought Osama bin Laden to justice.

“I will be in massive debt and probably without a job if Mitt Romney wins this election,” explains Maria, a social studies teacher in North Carolina.

“I just finished up my graduate work and have a good amount of student loans I still need to pay off. I’ve seen the payments go significantly down since President Obama worked to reform the student loan system and cut out the middleman. Being able to borrow money directly from the government makes my fees much less expensive.

“I just got hired as a teacher in the public school system in North Carolina. Mitt Romney’s policies will cut public sector jobs, which means that some people like me will lose their livelihoods.”

Scott is one of the many Americans who have donated to the Obama campaign. He, like many others, took a hard hit from the economic crisis in 2008, and has had a hard time regaining his footing. He lost his 401K, his wife has been jobless for over a year, and he’s had to move out of his home state to find work. It is the improvement that he has seen over the last four years, however, that moved him to make a contribution to the campaign.

“I believe in the man," he said. "I believe in his vision and his integrity, and I trust him. I think he’s done an outstanding job given the circumstances. We, as Americans, are never satisfied with the status quo, but I think President Obama has done an excellent job.”

"When I was 18 years old, there was a local election," 57-year-old Constance remembers. "I didn’t think there was any reason for me to vote because I didn’t know much about candidates. My 85-year-old grandmother read me the riot act. She said she wouldn’t miss any opportunity to vote. It was then that I realized how important it is to support and vote for the candidates who are doing their best to make this country better."

In addition to her vote, Constance is pitching in what she can to support the campaign.
