Student volunteers go all out for Pennsylvania’s registration deadline

With Pennsylvania’s voter registration deadline less than a week away, the Drexel University team in Philadelphia is preparing to make the most of this weekend.
“I’m absolutely going to be out there all weekend registering voters. Voting is an important part of what makes our country great, and I want as many people as possible to be able to participate. Registering voters is also a lot of fun. It’s allowed me to meet a bunch of new people around campus who are as passionate about this election as I am.”

When the election could come down to your state, you have to make sure you stand up for who you believe in. I believe in President Obama, and that’s why I’ll be out there this weekend.”

In Lansing, it’s all eyes on October 9th

With Michigan's voter registration deadline approaching next Tuesday, October 9th, Team Lansing is in “all hands on deck registration mode.” They've registered voters at bus stations, churches, and even Michigan State University football tailgates—and will be almost anywhere there’s foot traffic this weekend for Michigan's voter registration weekend of action.

Ohio voters camp out overnight to be the first in line to cast their ballots for President Obama.
Here in Ohio, our work for the last couple of weeks has led up to one day: October 2nd. Today doesn’t just mark the first day Ohioans will begin casting their ballots—it marks Day One of a weeklong period of same-day registration and voting in Ohio.
On weekdays from October 2nd to October 9th, anyone with the correct identification can register to vote and cast their vote on the same day, at the same location. It’s an amazing chance for students, folks who just moved, and Ohioans who haven’t registered yet to make their voices heard.

Time is ticking

With day two of the voter registration weekend of action in full swing, folks across the country are out making sure everyone they know is ready to hit the polls. Here's an update from one Virginia team.
Virginians put on their comfiest sneakers and hit the streets in their neighborhoods yesterday. Together, we did a lot: We knocked on doors (some of us in the rain), empowered our neighbors by registering them to vote, and signed up a bunch of new volunteers who will help us fight the big-money-backed misinformation from the other side.
It may seem like a bit of a frenzy, but we’re doing all this because—with 37 days left—time is ticking, and there is no time to stop and smell the roses. That can wait until after the election.
