It's one of the largest state fairs in America. And the people lining the streets of Albuquerque for the 2012 New Mexico State Fair were fired up for President Obama and moving our country forward.
We can't win without you. Please sign up to volunteer and take a stand for the families and communities of New Mexico.
Senator Jeff Bingaman and supporters from across Santa Fe County were on hand for the September 14th re-dedication of OFA New Mexico's office in the state capital. The Democratic Senator, who is retiring after three decades of serving the people of New Mexico, laid out the stark choice that New Mexico voters face in this election, saying that he's never seen an election "where the contrast is so great."
With less than two months until Election Day, volunteers across the country made this week count by opening new offices, registering folks to vote, and making phone calls. Take a look at some of the photos, then sign up to join volunteers in your neighborhood.
Toya was just one of the nearly 250 dedicated supporters who packed the house for the grand opening of OFA New Mexico’s newest office in the Land of Enchantment:
When I saw somebody out canvassing, I yelled for them. I’ve been coming in [to the office] every day since.
Toya started working two weeks before the office officially opened, and she has had plenty of company in Albuquerque’s Northeast Heights.
Regional volunteer lead Tom Solomon, who helped establish the office, has had his neighborhood teams buzzing for months.
There’s an electricity here in Albuquerque. We’re ready to walk, talk and rock for the President’s vision of a better America.
Jocelyn Mund, the OFA NM field organizer for the area knows it too:
Every day, we’re going to fill this office with people working with their neighbors to re-elect President Obama and move our communities forward.
The people of this community are ready to make calls. They’re ready to knock on doors. And they are ready to stand up and speak out about what we’re fighting for and why we’re fighting.
New Mexico is ready to go! This past weekend, OFA NM knocked on doors across the street and opened a brand-new office in the East Mountains. Find an upcoming event near you: http://ofa.bo/nmevents.
The convention has ended, but the work is far from over. Volunteers across the country have been busy opening new offices and registering people to vote. Now, they’re getting ready for the weekend of action. Check out some photos from this week in the field, then find an event near you this weekend.
Not in Charlotte? Experience the the Democratic National Convention with your friends. RSVP for a watch party in your neighborhood: http://OFA.BO/nm2012watch
Peter from Santa Fe has two very good reasons for working so hard to re-elect President Obama: his wife and the child they are expecting.
My wife is in her 39th week of pregnancy. We want our child born in a democracy -- a country where everyone gets healthcare, where the corporations don't control the government, where women have equal rights and equal pay, where alternative energy is supported, and the middle class and impoverished get an equal chance to work and exercise their civil rights.
