• A Week with Fall Fellows

It's been almost a week since the Fall Fellowship began, and so far, it's been quite a whirlwind.

Here in Maryland we hosted a day-long training to get to know our Fall Fellows before getting down to work, where we focused on organizing our community, and the logistics and drive we need to win the campaign in 2012.

By the end of the day, one thing was clear—President Obama has the ability to bring together people from all walks of life, all with the common goal of building a stronger America. We met Keith a veteran, Matilde a schoolteacher, and even Daniel, a pastor by day.

So this time around, we thought we'd do something a bit different, and let you hear from one of our fellows, Daniel about his experiences so far.
Here's what he had to say.

To me, there is nothing in this world more inspiring than being a part of something bigger than myself. When I get to be a part of a group, a team, or an office that works toward goals that can change the world, all the qualities I like most in myself start to arise. It's not my own doing, but rather the humility and the altruism that comes naturally with working on something much larger than myself.

And that's exactly the experience I get being a Fall Fellow for Obama for America-Maryland. Every person I've met here has been kind and gracious, but even more than that, they've been passionate. Their dedication, drive, and endless energy, coupled with a team spirit and a singular focus, make me feel like together, we can accomplish anything. It makes me want to work longer, try harder, and be better in everything I do to help get the President re-elected.

You've heard the saying, "Give me a lever long enough, and I'll move the world." Well, that's exactly what we're trying to do right here. The lever this campaign has found most effective is a network of personal relationships, and it is those relationships, that will keep Barack Obama in the Oval Office. It is that network that will move the world, and I'm just happy to be a part of it.

It's people like Daniel, our volunteers, and the rest of the Fall Fellows who will spend the next year and a half working for our country.
