  • “We’ve got your Back” Volunteer Spotlight on Jenna Snyder

    By OFA-ND on

    Jenna Snyder
I've got Obama's back because he can change things, and change them for the better. ~ Jenna Snyder

We want to send out a big welcome to the team to Jenna Snyder!

Jenna is one of the Fellows that will be working on the campaign this summer.

We asked her a simple question: "Why do you have Obama's back?"

    Here is what she said:

"I've got Obama's back because he makes me hopeful. He has passion I haven't seen before, and it's that passion makes me hopeful. Our country and our democracy aren't toys to be played with, they aren't special clubs only a few people can join, and Obama understands that in the greatest way possible. His policies seek fairness, his policies seek to include everyone, his policies seek to not only make America a better place, but the American people better people. I think that's important. I think that hope isn't just a slogan, it's real life, it's a real goal, and more than that, it's not simple. It takes a lot of people to make good, lasting change, and I've got Obama's back because he cares about those people on an individual level, and wants to support and protect them to the best of his abilities. I've got Obama's back because he can change things, and change them for the better."

Jenna is from Bismarck, ND and is studying Political Science and Communications at the University of Minnesota - Moorhead.

Jenna is part of the Students for Obama organization and helped host the OFA-MN Youth Summit.

Welcome to the team Jenna and thank you for all your efforts!

  • State Of the Union Watch Parties

By Tim E, North Dakota State Director on

Every year, OFA North Dakota volunteers host State of the Union watch parties in cities and towns across North Dakota. These parties are a once-a-year opportunity to gather with like-minded supporters of the President, learn about what OFA is doing in community across North Dakota, and discover how you can become a vital part of our organization. Last year we had four watch parties across the state with almost 100 attendees gathering in coffee shops, community rooms and Democratic offices in North Dakota. This year we expect over 200 North Dakotans watching him outline his priorities for 2012 on Tuesday, January 24.

    That’s where you come in.

We can’t reach our goal without your help. We can’t grow our neighborhood teams without new members and volunteers or set the pace for enthusiasm and excitement without your presence. I encourage you to find a watch party nearest you. If there is an address or information missing, RSVP and the host will reach out to you with more information. If you don’t see a watch party in your town, I encourage you to create an event here and invite friends and family over to watch the President lay out his vision for 2012. Thanks, and with your help we will have a memorable State of the Union on January 24.

    Meet Jace

If you live in the Devils Lake, Nelson County or Benson County area, Jace Riggin is your region’s Neighborhood Team Leader. Jace Riggin is currently a Senior at Devils Lake High School. Jace first became involved with the Obama campaign in 2008 making phone calls with his mother in the Devils Lake office. Throughout 2010 Jace continued his OFA involvement, making phone calls from his house in Sheyenne across the state in support of the President’s policies and for allies of the President.

This year Jace wanted to up his involvement with OFA, so he applied to be a summer organizer. After training, Jace was prepared to organize his community to keep America moving forward. With a brief two-week intermission studying American politics at the Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs, Jace has been with OFA-ND as a fall fellow and neighborhood team leader.

Next Fall, Jace plans to attend Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter Minnesota to Study Political Science and Communications.

Jace and OFA North Dakota has a number of events in the coming weeks. We have important phone banks planned during the week of December 11-16 and on January 2nd. If you are interested in helping Jace in the Devils Lake region or anywhere in North Dakota, sign up to Obama Organizing Fellow in your community or on your college campus.

  • One Year Out

    By on

    OYO Event

On Sunday, OFA and Democratic supporters across North Dakota gathered in libraries, offices and student unions to recognize we are less than a year from Election Day. There were 87 attendees in five locations statewide. Attendees heard from two North Dakota legislators regarding the upcoming special session and OFA State Director Tim Edland about the importance of organizing to victory on November 6, 2012. After the statewide video conference, each location made their own plan to develop teams and reach out to potential volunteers in their community.

We have less than 365 days to Election Day 2012, and we can't wait any longer to organize to re-elect the President. Attendees at these meetings agreed we can't wait to take action. If you do too, join us for team phone banks this week on Thursday at 5:30 and Sunday at 3:30 in our offices at 720 Main Ave Ste. 203. Be sure to RSVP for these events today!

  • Welcome To OFA ND’s New Home

By North Dakota Obama for America on

    049

We've had a busy few weeks at OFA North Dakota. On Saturday, October 22 we opened our first North Dakota office of the campaign. 720 Main Ave in Fargo will be our new home through Election Day 2012. It's a fantastic space, which we opened in style. OFA North Dakota State Director Tim Edland, Democratic-NPL Chairman Greg Hodur and nearly 100 attendees were on hand to celebrate our opening and commit to supporting the campaign. Thanks to all who attended. If you haven't seen our space, we're eager to welcome you in person!

On Sunday, October 27 we welcomed volunteer leaders and OFA Core Team Members from across the state to the new space. Our Neighborhood Team Convention celebrated the commitment and hard work of our volunteers in North Dakota while providing additional training and planning to take back to their own communities. It was a fantastic event! if you're interested in learning more about becoming an OFA ND Neighborhood team leader, Core Team Member or just learn more about the campaign, we're eager to show you "Respect, Include, Empower, Win" is more than just a slogan, but the key to our organization's success.
