One year ago

On April 4th, 2011, supporters across the country came together to launch President Obama’s re-election campaign. Since we hit the ground running that day, volunteers and staff have been busy building a grassroots organization in all 50 states.

From San Francisco to Boston, we’re opening field offices to bring our organization to towns and cities all over the U.S. In the last year alone, we got operations up and running in 50 states.

Scranton, PA

Our amazing team of volunteers and supporters came out in force to help warm our new office in downtown Scranton. Take a look at this some of the highlights from a fun night and see how fired up and ready to go the Electric City is.
Des Moines, IA

We’ve started moving into our new campaign office here in Des Moines and as you can see, it’s really starting to feel like home. Some might find it looks familiar, and there is a reason for that: it’s the same office the Romney campaign used during the caucuses. They have already packed up and moved on to other primary states, but today, we’re moving in.

Bowling Green, OH

On Sunday over 100 fired up supporters helped launch our Wood County home base in Bowling Green. Attendees were treated to good food, beautiful artwork, and great conversation. Check out the photos, and make sure you sign up to volunteer to attend the next big event in your area.

Volunteers: Alaska

Alaska is a unique place to organize and campaign. Any event usually gets a good amount of buzz because it’s a great chance to be social. Last weekend, we held a rally to support the President in Anchorage. About 30 of us got together to wave Obama 2012 signs and support the President. It was cold, but it was nothing a little hot chocolate couldn’t make better.
Celebrating a birthday with her Obama family

Last week, Marge, a volunteer in DuPage County celebrated her 89th birthday with her Obama family in the field office in Lombard. She’s so dedicated to re-electing President Obama that we couldn’t even get the phone out of her hand while we sang ‘Happy Birthday.’
Ready to vote at 98 years old

98-year old Dick Gibbons lives in a nearby retirement home with his wife Gertrude. He was engaged in a lively political discourse with other residents and wanted information he could share about President Obama’s accomplishments.

Taking Action

Over the last 12 months, volunteers have been working to organize neighborhood teams, register voters, and bring new supporters on board.

State of the Union in Illinois

A team of volunteers in downtown Chicago joined thousands of supporters across the country who held watch parties last night for President Obama’s State of the Union address. After the speech, first-time host Joy and a few of her guests shared their favorite State of the Union moments—and their thoughts on the party.

Wisconsin Student Summit

Student supporters rallied together at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the Greater Together Student Summit. Like the other summits taking place at colleges and universities across the country, it was a chance for students to strategize ways to turn out the vote on campus. In Wisconsin, students are putting together their own brand of dorm-to-dorm organizing.

Gathering in homes, campaign offices—and, in Garner, NC at the “Touch of Class” salon—supporters got together at hundreds of Women for Obama house parties across the country.
